In just a hop, skip, and a jump were in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia for a quick stopover on.
Just a walk in the park…
The Eastern European countries are slowly coming out of lockdown so it was nice to see people out and about meeting friends and family. Niya was a big hit with some unafraid toddlers by the big Christmas tree and I’m pretty sure she’s making it on the front of someones holiday card haha!
One thing European cities do well are big squares, and Hviezdoslav Square didn’t disappoint. Surrounded by palaces, embassies, and concert halls it made for a beautiful setting. Our favorite part was walking down the rows of the cutest food stalls I’ve ever seen. They were selling all kinds of local traditional foods.
We of course had to stop for a GIANT hot dog, mulled wine, and some mystery strudel (Niya made us).
Dinner in an Igloo
After our last three countries were in lockdown it was nice be out and about. Although indoor restaurants were closed the city has done a great job offering outdoor seating. Many of the restaurants had heaters and big fur blankets draped over bistro table seating. We were lucky enough to snag a rooftop reservation for sunset in an igloo looking over the city for dinner.
The weather is getting cold, hot chocolate is on every corner, and the first of the Christmas trees and lights are up and lit. There is noting I love more than the holidays and can’t wait to get to Vienna next in hopes to see our first snow.
