Bonjour Paris!

After a decade of travel to over 35 countries, I have finally made it to Paris for the first time. With croissants and high fashion set in my sights we hit the streets and took the city by storm!

Although I knew we were going to Paris I knew nothing of the details of the trip – it was a complete surprise from my loving and handsome husband. He really pulled out all of the stops with beautiful hotels, impossible to get into restaurants, and so many more romantic surprises!

Celebrating Our Anniversary in the City of Love!

What better place to celebrate 5 years of marriage and ring in year lucky #13 than the most romantic place on earth?

When I think about how long we’ve been together it’s this strange mix feeling “forever” and “a blink of an eye” all at the same time. It’s still hard to believe that I was 23 when we first met!! He has watched and helped me grow into a much more confident, calm, and positive woman.

La Louvre

What a place! We spent and entire day exploring the museum seeing some of the most iconic works in the world.

Seeing the glass pyramids gave us serious Di Vinci Code vibes. But the Mona Lisa was truly spectacular.

Tip: Make a reservation at Café Marly and treat your weary feet to a glass or champs and croque monsieur.

Nightlife

There is certainly no shortage of entertainment in the City of Love.

I highly recommend taking one of the cruises down the Seine. We chose a sunset cruise and had a blast. The food was great, so was the onboard Jazz singer, but the best was pulling into the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower.

But if there is one thing you cannot miss it’s a burlesque show at Crazy Horse. While Moulin Rouge may be more iconic, I wanted to experience something a little more refined and less touristy.

For restaurants we made reservations (almost 6 weeks in advance) for Lou Lou and Giraffe.

Bon Anniversaire!

What a day! I’m still in disbelief while writing this thinking back to the one of the best days in my life.

I woke up to breakfast in bed which included a spice cake (my yearly birthday cake of choice) that Dave had arranged between the hotel and a local Parisian bakery. Then came the champs, and then came a huge surprise. I was told to pack my bags and that we were leaving Paris for 24 hours! WHAT?! I literally had no idea where we were going until we showed up at the Paris-Lyon train station. I waited and waited until our train popped up – Zurich, Switzerland.

4 hours later we were checking into a hotel and before I knew it walking down the street…to see James Morrison. Dave said I gasped so loudly – but I don’t even remember because I was doubled over bawling my eyes out.

JAMES MORRISON

Dave and I have been listing to him for almost 13 years and love him so much I chose to surprise Dave walking down the aisle of our wedding to “If You Don’t Want to Love Me”.

And in an insane turn of events, in 2019 we travelled to London for 24 hours just to see him in concert because he doesn’t tour in the US anymore. I held up a sign in the audience “Traveled 9,120 mi for 24 hours to hear our wedding song” and when he saw it he asked me what our song was. I shouted it out, he turned around to the band and asked if they could play it, little did I know it wasn’t on the set list. He serenaded us while I cried my eyes out and it was a moment I thought I would never have again…until I just did!!!
